What is Saudi Building Code compliance?
Saudi Building Code compliance means a building's design and drawings meet the code's requirements (e.g. SBC 201 for buildings and SBC 801 for fire protection) before the project is approved by the competent authority.
Minimum room area — SBC 201
The Saudi Building Code (SBC 201) sets a minimum floor area for habitable rooms. A room below the required area is non-compliant and must be adjusted before approval.
SBC 201 §1208.3Means of egress width — SBC 201
The Saudi Building Code (SBC 201) sets minimum widths for corridors and doors along means of egress based on occupant load, to ensure safe evacuation. Widths below the minimum are non-compliant.
SBC 201 — Chapter 10 (Means of Egress)Fire-protection requirements — SBC 801
SBC 801 covers fire-protection requirements: element fire-resistance ratings, means of egress, and alarm and suppression systems — reducing fire risk and ensuring safe evacuation.
